Meadowside is a small, comfortable, family-run residential care home for the elderly situated just outside Marlow town centre. It is housed in an elegant, turn of the century Edwardian-style property which has been converted with care and regard for the special needs of elderly people. Our aim is to create a family atmosphere for all our residents. Accommodation is available for up to 14 residents; a small number that enables staff to give the utmost individual care and personal attention to each resident in a homely and happy atmosphere. We are regulated by the Care Quality Commission and comply with the required standards for residential care while maintaining a home-from-home environment familiar to us all. The building and all rooms are wheelchair accessible, and there is a passenger lift to the first floor to facilitate this. Our rooms are pleasantly decorated, generous in size and comfortably furnished according to residents’ wishes. This includes individual bedside and ceiling lighting, personal television, adjustable central heating and a ‘state-of-the art’ nurse-call system. All the rooms is equipped with private ‘self-enclosed’ en suite facilities consisting of a toilet and vanity basin. Two rooms also have a self-enclosed shower, and there is a third room with a bath. The premises conform to current fire, health and safety regulations. There is ample car parking space for residents’ families and visitors to the front of the property, with staff car parking to the rear.
The rear patio garden is surrounded with well-established shrubs, roses and scented flowers. The patio is ‘user-friendly’ and accessed via a gently sloping ramp from the main communal area. The central aesthetically beautiful water feature provides a tranquil setting. The communal lounge provides a perfect view of the garden, and there are a number of birds nesting in the bird houses that the residents like to observe.
As part of our service we also provide nutritious home-cooked meals, in-house laundry, and a range of tailored activities with opportunities to participate in outings to a variety of venues – including the garden centre, the theatre and even a boat trip on the nearby River Thames at Marlow. Additional services available include a visiting unisex hairdresser, a chiropodist, a main telephone and/or the option of a private ‘portable’ telephone as well as daily newspapers/magazines to each resident’s liking.
We welcome visitors at any time, within reason, to Meadowside. And we also welcome well-behaved pets at the management’s discretion.
